DIY Fabric Tray Tutorial

Materials Needed
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Ruler or measuring tape
- Fabric marker or chalk
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
- Iron and ironing board
- Interfacing
- Pins
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Prepare the Fabric
Measure and Cut the Fabric (0:30)
- Measure and cut two pieces of fabric and one piece of interfacing to your desired tray size. The dimensions should be equal.
Step 2: Attach the Interfacing
Fuse the Interfacing to One Fabric Piece (1:00)
- Place the interfacing on the wrong side of one fabric piece. Fuse it with an iron according to the interfacing instructions.
Step 3: Sew the Fabric Pieces Together
Pin and Sew the Fabric Pieces (2:00)
- Pin the fabric pieces together with right sides facing each other. Sew around the edges, leaving a small opening for turning.
Step 4: Turn the Fabric Right Side Out
Turn and Press (3:00)
- Turn the fabric right side out through the opening. Press the seams flat with an iron.
Step 5: Topstitch the Edges
Close the Opening and Topstitch (4:00)
- Close the opening by folding the edges in and topstitch around the entire tray to give it a finished look.
Step 6: Form the Tray
Create the Corners (5:00)
- Fold the corners to form the sides of the tray. Sew the corners together to hold the shape.
